FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Bethlehem A.D. Honored by Downtown Business Group

Redwood City, CA - December 5 - The annual Redwood City Hometown Holidays Parade has honored the cast of Bethlehem AD with one of their two top awards for “Best float with Vehicle”. Of course no other two-wheeled float could boast having the four-legged accompaniment of two baby camels, one miniature horse, two goats and two sheep parading down Broadway on December 2nd!

On behalf of the 300 person volunteer cast and crew of Bethlehem AD, Paula Dresden accepted the crystal trophy (and $500.00 cash prize) at a Holiday party hosted by the Redwood City Downtown Business Group on December 5th.

The perfect weather on December 2nd attracted a big crowd for the annual Parade and the spectators showed their appreciation for the elaborate costuming and attention to detail that is the hallmark of the Bethlehem AD entry.

Telegraphing the Bethlehem float, were a dozen “Roman Centurions” marching in formation and wearing gleaming new helmets. The Centurions are led by Todd Hurst, a local police officer at Sequoia High School.

A total of eighty five cast members from Bethlehem AD took part in the parade, showcasing a cart carrying “Mary and Joseph with baby Jesus” (played by D’Anne and Ryan Peterson with four month old Claire). Sheltering the “Holy Family” were four angels with two canine angel mascots; an assortment of shepherds and villagers carrying palm fronds; a group of lively folk dancers; and the even-livelier animals – the sheep and goats; the miniature horse “Atom”, and – the latest addition to the Bethlehem AD menagerie – the baby camels, Willy Emmanuel (6 months old) and Wynonna Noel (4 months old). Redwood City’s new Century Theater complex may never again see camels
strolling by...at least not until next year!

Bethlehem A.D. is a living re-creation of the village of Bethlehem on the night of the first Christmas. Free to the public, the event attracts thousands of visitors across three nights, December 21, 22, 23, from 6:00pm to 9:30pm nightly. For those who enjoyed the Bethlehem contribution to the Hometown Holidays parade, a pilgrimage to the actual Bethlehem AD village on December 21, 22, 23, will surely become another cherished holiday tradition.
