FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Bethlehem A.D.'s very own baby camels to debut on December 21st!

Redwood
City, CA - November 18 - The “newborn King” in the Manger at Bethlehem A.D. in Redwood City will be greeted by two more special “babies” this year.  The baby camels recently purchased and adopted especially for Bethlehem A.D.  The camels (both Dromedaries) are “Will Emmanuel” - 6 months old – and “Wynonna Noel” - 4 months old - and they will make their Bethlehem A.D. debut on December 21st.

Born at Camel Hill Vineyards on June 1, 2006, Willy Emmanuel was purchased for Bethlehem A.D. by Will Richardson, who then entrusted the baby camel to Joe and Viki Demma, who are lovingly overseeing Willy’s daily care at their 40 acre ranch in La Honda.

To train and bond with a camel is a 24/7 activity that Joe and Viki have wholeheartedly committed to, even sacrificing vacations in order to spend all their time with Willy. And to provide a camel companion for Willy, they adopted Wynonna Noel, who was
also born at Camel Hill Vineyards on August 14. At the Demma’s ranch, Willy and Wynonna can roam freely and play with a menagerie of other animals including goats, sheep, turkeys, ducks, dogs and cats, and even a miniature horse named “Adam”, donated to Bethlehem A.D. by Ted and Judy Hannig. Adam is being groomed to pull the cart for the Holy Family in next year’s Redwood City parade.

So “It’s a Wonderful Life” for the newest members of the Bethlehem A.D. cast. In time, and with enough hay, raw goat’s milk, veggies and fruit, Willy will eventually weigh 1600 to 1800 lbs, and grow to 7 or 8 feet tall, measured to the top of his hump. ly weigh 1400 to 1600 lbs. and grow to 7 feet tall.

But for now, they’re still babies and they await your visit to Bethlehem A.D.

Bethlehem A.D. is a living re-creation of the village of Bethlehem on the night of the first Christmas. Free to the public, the event attracts thousands of visitors across three nights, December 21, 22, 23, from 6:00pm to 9:30pm nightly. Animals have always been an integral part of Bethlehem A.D., which features a petting zoo for children with sheep, goats, calves, and a zee-donk, as well as brahmas, llamas, horses, and camels, who are led through the village to interact with visitors. It might seem like Noah’s Ark if it weren’t Bethlehem A.D.!
